2008 Carnivals

With the Surf Sports season well under way it’s time to open carnival nominations for the season. Carnival nominations are at the cost of $15.00 per person per carnival and are payable at the time of nomination, no entries will be made without the accompaniment of payment. Nominations will close the Sunday prior to each carnvial at 1pm.
Carnival nominations for all North Qld Branch carnivals will open next Sunday the 15th of June, nominations can be made each Sunday with Sharon and Donna at the club.
We would like to make the following requests this season regarding carnival nominations considering our season is rather condensed.
1. Where financially possible could you please nominate for all or as many carnivals as possible at the same time, if for some reason you decide not to attend a carnival you have paid for and you cancel the Sunday prior to the carnival, full nomination fee will be refunded. For one competitor to nominate for all (5) carnivals the cost would be $75.00. For those U11 and over competitors attending the Surf Rescue Championships the total nomination cost for the season would be $90 per competitor.
2. Please don’t leave nominating to the last minute or to too late on a Sunday as Donna and I are volunteers who have to balance and pack up after everyone has gone home.
Please keep in mind that Ellis Beach sends approximately 160 competitors to each carnval whose entries all have to be dealt with individually for each carnival and also placed into teams for the team events.

19/20th July Mission Beach Carnival (South Mission Beach)
2/3rd August Port Douglas Carnival
16/17th August Cairns Carnival (Palm Cove)
6/7th September Etty Bay Carnival
20/21st September Surf Rescue Championships (Mission Beach U11 & Over only)
11/12th October NQ Branch Titles (Ellis Beach)
For U11 and over competitors carnivals are (2) days starting at approximately 11.00 am on the Saturday and running through to 3-4pm on the Sunday. U8-U10 competitors carnivals are Sunday only.
For those intending to stay over night at any of these locations for the carnivals who haven’t already booked accommodation I would advise you do so asap as accommodation is normally in high demand over these weekends with approximately 400 competitors attending each carnival along with the normal toursist population.
The North Australian Titles will be held a month early this year on the 24/25/26th of October at Harbour Beach in Mackay (U11 & over only). SLSQ have officially taken over the running of the titles this year which is exciting news, however it is probably timely to thank Warren Massey and his team for their tireless efforts in running the North Australian Titles so successfully over the past years. Nomination costs for the North Australian Titles are yet to be released.
